An initial discussion with Joanne Kembel, Executive Director, is extremely important. This discussion will clarify the potential for being considered before a lot of effort goes into developing a formal proposal.

Funding Decision Process

Based on community needs assessment, we partner with service providers to fund the most imminent needs, allowing for the flexibility to accommodate existing relationships. Funds are distributed by an Allocations Committee made up of experienced volunteers trained to apply clear criteria to the decision-making process.

April 30, 2010 :
New Agency's funding applications are due.

June 14, 2010:
Returning Agenct's funding applications are due.

September-December:
The Allocations Committee reviews funding requests, interviews and visits agencies, to develop initial funding recommendations.

January:
Available funds are determined, as the amount of money available depends on the outcome of the annual fall campaign.

March:
Funding recommendations are formally approved by the Board of Directors and the United Way pays out funds quarterly in the next fiscal year.
