Mission Statement of the United Way of Thunder Bay
To serve communities by promoting, supporting and facilitating the organized capacity of people to help one another.
GOALS
- To provide assistance in fulfilling communities' needs
- To develop and implement an annual fundraising campaign
- To allocate funds to service providers within the communities
- To encourage the involvement and effective participation of volunteers
CORE PRINCIPLES
- We use a broadly based community needs assessment on which to guide a growing percentage of our annual fund drive
- We maximize our resources in the areas of dollars and volunteers to fill the gaps of the community needs assessment
- Based on community needs assessment, we partner with service providers to fund most imminent needs, along with the flexibility to accommodate existing relationships
- We monitor and nurture the volunteer strengths of the community
- We continue our practice of developing public awareness of health and social welfare issues funded by United Way
- We deal with advocacy issues in a manner of caution and only in those issues dealing directly with our core business
- We strive for diversity and effectiveness of quality in Board members to be reflective of our community
