Mission Statement of the United Way of Thunder Bay

To serve communities by promoting, supporting and facilitating the organized capacity of people to help one another.

GOALS

  1. To provide assistance in fulfilling communities' needs
  2. To develop and implement an annual fundraising campaign
  3. To allocate funds to service providers within the communities
  4. To encourage the involvement and effective participation of volunteers

CORE PRINCIPLES

  1. We use a broadly based community needs assessment on which to guide a growing percentage of our annual fund drive
  2. We maximize our resources in the areas of dollars and volunteers to fill the gaps of the community needs assessment
  3. Based on community needs assessment, we partner with service providers to fund most imminent needs, along with the flexibility to accommodate existing relationships
  4. We monitor and nurture the volunteer strengths of the community
  5. We continue our practice of developing public awareness of health and social welfare issues funded by United Way
  6. We deal with advocacy issues in a manner of caution and only in those issues dealing directly with our core business
  7. We strive for diversity and effectiveness of quality in Board members to be reflective of our community
